New here and questions

Hello everyone, I have not been diagnosed but believe that I may have late-onset CAH. I have been corresponding with Kris (who posts here as well) through the About.com Thryoid forum at the Delphi Forums about this condition. I have been treated for autoimmune Hashimoto's Thyroiditis since my early 20s (I'm now 50), PCOS and severe menstrual problems (fibroids, cystic ovaries, adhesions), estrogen dominance, hypertention and anxiety. I eat a low carb diet (which has helped tremendously), watch my salt intake, exercise daily and take all the right supplements. My question is this. I'm having difficulty finding out what the exact tests are for 11-hydroxylase deficiency. I am considering this because of high blood pressure and anxiety problems. I started developing facial hair before puberty, I'm 5'3", have always had bad periods, have experienced a lifetime of panic attacks and do not recover quickly from surgery and illness. Most of the information refers to the more common 21-hydroxylase deficiency and all the testing. I have printed out numerous articles on CAH and will take them to the doctor when I have enough informtion. The testing is my last quest and I'm sure my GP will be unfamiliar with LOCAH. The endocrinologist I saw last year wouldn't even test me! There are so many issues at hand with this disorder. Since I am perimenopausal with thyroid disease, getting the right mix of meds will be tricky. I would appreciate any help on this matter. It seems like you have quite a knowledgable group here and I'm looking forward to participating in the discussion. Best in health, Leslie
