Our daughter was operated on at one month, and everything was done in one operation. The surgeon told me that if we waited it would have to be done in several steps, due to an increase in danger of hitting a vein or artery. They also said it was best to do the surgery as soon as possible after the birth, because my female hormones would still be in her body, and aid in the haling and the development of the genitilia. Like concerned mom, my daughter was off the morphine the next day, and happy and laughting 20 hours after surgery. But, we did the surgery that early only because we were very certain of the sexuality of our child. If it had been an advanced case (3rd, 4th or 5th degree) I might have waited to see what the child wanted,or how she developped.
