I think the amount of salt is different for each patient. I gave my son with CAH (salt losing) the sodium chloride solution for several weeks after he was diagnosed but my endocrinologist told me to stop giving it to him at his first visit because his blood pressure was high. I think the doctors decide how much sodium the child needs based on blood pressure and plasma renin levels (from blood tests). My son is now 4 months old and he is growing well and all his hormone and plasma renin levels have been good and he gets no salt (he is breastfed only). From what I have read, girls with CAH have normal female anatomy internally and are able to have children. I think you should ask another doctor about this. Your doctor may be confused. It sounds like you have had a very difficult time but that things are getting better. I am glad to hear your daughter is doing well now. Good luck to you! Cindy B.Cindy B
