I wish too that there was a "standard" practice but it seems like there is so much contradictations with CAH. Some doctors say one thing and another doctor something else. SO just make sure that the doctor is carefully monitoring the blood levels - plasma renin and OH17. And the tests are taken between 6 am and 8 am (homone levels surge in the am). And not just going by the sodium levels and blood pressure alone. I would also ask by 2 times a day and not three times a day on the cortef. My son takes cortef 3 times a day and florinef once a day (am). The blood test should be done at least every 3 months if there are no problems - monthly if there is a problem with the levels - and meds changed to make the levels more normal.
