Hi there, I have a 3 1/2 yr old girl (salt-waster). If there is one thing that I have learned through all that we have been through it is that CAH is not an immune difficiency disorder. That said, CAH children are not prone to get more infections and should be treated as ordinarily as possible. My little girl has had flu's and colds and she also had the chicken pox and got through them all wonderfully. Stress from crying is not considered the kind of stress that CAH kids need extra cortisone for. I believe in letting them "cry it out for a bit" it's actually good for them (obviously only within reason). If I can offer you any advice it would be that your CAH child is a healthy "normal" child. The only real concern you should have is that the levels are correct and that you know how to get through a period of illness or stress. Focus on that, don't get caught up in protecting your child from everyday life. Good luck and take care!
