My three year old daughter with CAH has been managed great, and we don't give the meds like Roberta said. We give the largest dose in the am between 7 & 8a.m., and the other dose is given at 8 -9p.m. Her levels have always been good, she is rarely sick. We get blood work done every 4 months, and we have the blood drawn about 2 hours after her morning dose. Once we went five months and she had a growth spurt. Her 17OHP was a little off, but she responded quickly to her med adjustment. We did not lose any bone age. When she is sick, she handles it very well. I think it depends on the child. Endocrinologists differ on the way they treat CAH children, and this is a great source of confusion and frustration for many. Dr. New is a great doctor, but she is not the only good doctor around. The meds need to be given regularly, but these kids are not in boot camp.
