I have a 3 year old boy w/ CAH and a 9 mos old boy w/ CAH. I took the dex for 24 weeks while pregnant w/ the second pregnancy. I had amnio at 20 weeks and then started to taper at 22 weeks when we found out it was a boy. It took another couple of weeks to find out he had CAH. Our endo would not start treating the baby until it was confirmed after birth that he really did have CAH, so it was a long couple of weeks worrying and getting medication correct. I thought it would be a breeze since we knew what we were doing. He ended up in the hospital for a night w/ an IV, he is a very severe salt waster...he still takes 4 florinef and sodium supplement. I knew I did not want just one child and I am very happy to have my two boys. I am uncertain if I would do the DEX therapy again. I have heard mixed results as to its effectiveness etc. It was very hard on me emotionally, I got depressed and could not sleep at all, I gained more weight than I would have but I only gained 30 lbs total, and it came right off after the baby. If you would like to e-mail me please feel free. I am thinking about a third but I think my husband and my family and my pediatrician would think I am crazy? I am dealing fine w/ the 2 CAH kids, I love them both and would not change a thing. Good Luck and I know it is not an easy choice to make.Martha
