Low pressure too can be a problem. The medications and the condition is a balancing act!!! Too much florinef - too high blood pressure; Too low of a dosage - too low of a blood pressure. Sign of problems if low blood pressure - is weight lost; dizzy; too much sleeping, vomiting, etc. Often gradually and hard to pin point. The doctors blame other things than CAH. And the OH17 blood levels are also causual to the blood pressure. If the cortisol levels are not right. So indeed it is a balancing act. Important things I know who my experience - if you baby has a fever and it does not go down after 30 minutes or so - be very careful. My 2 and 1/2 old Jessica died from a bacterial infection (fever) and adrenal crisis. You CAN NOT be too careful. My life is over ever changed and at some times I thought my life was over!! PLEASE do no let that happen to your child - be safe than sorry. Always have the emergency cortef on hand!! Giving it will not hurt but could save her/him life. Don't wait until you get to the hospital or think 911 can help you - they can't. They don't have solu-cortef just lying around for you and 911 can not give it anyway without doctors orders - even then I would not chance it. And in the ER - they might make you wait in the waiting room for hours and then it would be too late (God forbid). A fever over 102 in a infant is VERY serious!! Over 101 double the cortef and give tylenol and if the does not go down - go to the ER and give the injection. It could save her life. I just wish I could go back it time a save Jessica. preston@kreative.net
