I'm the mother of a CAH daughter. We had NO idea that either one of us could even be carriers since no one that we knew of in either of our families had CAH. However, their have been 5 male infant deaths in my husbands generation of his family that the family now wonders if they are CAH related. Immediately following my daughter's birth and the discovery that she was not a boy, but a girl with CAH, my husband's twin sister became pregnant. She and her husband did genetic testing and found that niether one of them is a carrier. Now they don't have to worry about any future pregnanies. By informing your brother and his wife, the testing they might undergo could give them some future peace of mind. As for me and my husband, we are making sure that our family members know that there is a possibility of this for thier children. After all, we had no way of knowing before we married that we were both carriers.Jennifer
