Eileen, great to see you on the board. Let me assure you tht the Lupron shots have worked great with my daughter, Kristin. She started them when she was 5 and showed elevated estrogen levels and well as outward signs of precocious puberty. As you can imagine, we did not want to deal with periods at 5 yrs old! Anyway, Kristin is now 11 and still taking the monthly injections. You can have them given at the dr.office, but we prefer to just do it here at home. We use EMLA cream, which is a numbing cream. We put it on about 1-1/4 hrs before bedtime, again 15 min before bedtime and then give the shot as soon as she is sound asleep. She usually never feels it or remembers it being given! Sometimes she is a little sore for a day or two right at the injections site, sometimes not at all. Let me know if you will be giving these shots and I will be happy to talk to you by phone to explain exactly what we do. My e-mail address is mzgrappo@rmc.com
