Cindy B, your comment about your endo being casual about adrenal crisis does not suprise me. Even our endo who first diagnosed our son, who is now a year old, was pretty casual about it, until the second time he was admitted in the hospital due to dehydration; he lost 4to 5 pounds in three hours, and he only weighed 13! Then, his electrolytes came back with high sodium and potassium, unusual for a salt-waster. What he told me was, they didn't know why his body was doing what it was doing, that there is no exact way to treat CAH children (this is well-known, that is one of the reasons why they are doing the NICH study), and he could not assure me at what point he would start to crash. Since you are his mother, and watch him daily, you have to be persistant when you feel something is not quite wrong. Even if you are wrong, you will gain the experience, and know his signs better, which is what this endo told me. He is now complaining to the State Insurance Board, since our HMO is denying the level of care for his last day of admission, saying that at-home care would have been appropriate; ha! They weren't looking at him! Easy to say that 6 to 8 months later! Look at Michelle H's posting, about their experience in the E/R, I think it in archive. If you can't find it, I think I have it in my personal filing cabinet, and I can email it to you directly. Their son was in "code blue" status, and they were awaiting medicine from the pharmacy, I believe. Take care and God Bless
