Well....at least you came to the right place! Many of us know at least SOME of what you went through. With our daughter, her clitoris began enlarging at age 3 1/2 yrs.....now THERE'S an issue....she was SURE she was turning into a boy. Tests, tests, tests....bottom line: CAH. Once the physical part was taken care of (getting the right dosage of cortisol), we were left with the psychological aspect. At 3.5-4 yrs, kids are figuring out just what makes boys and girls different. We spent a few months assuring and reassuring her that she will STAY A GIRL.....God made her a girl, etc. Taking her in for surgery was not an answer.....merely having it loped off or 'scaled down' would, we felt, confirm that she actually WAS turning into a boy and we just had the hospital fix it. So...NO, you are not alone! My heart goes out to you for what you and your family went through. We, too, ended up with a super endo.....although I'm sorry you had to start out with the endo you did. Your initiation into the world of CAH and ambiguous genitalia could have gone a lot better. Please feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions.Karen
