These steroids can be hard on the stomach, and give the patient ulcers (either now or later in life). I always gave my son a drink of milk (or formula when he was a baby) when I gave him his meds. So far he has never complained of stomach pain. Now that he's almost 15 years old, he often trys to slip by me only taking water with his meds. I remind him how painful & dangerous ulcers can be & send him back for a snack or at least a glass of milk. When he was little I used to wake him at midnight for his meds. he was VERY used to this and would go right back to sleep. Some mornings he woke in a panic thinking I forgot to give him his meds, when actually he was just soooo used to it he never fully woke up the night before when I gave them to him!
