Hi, this is my fist time asking question on the message board. I think this is a good thing. I have a 7 year old with salt-wasting CAH. We found out the hard way. He went in full adrenal crises at 10 days old. It took our pediation 1 week to diagnose Scott the salt wasting CAH. Being his first patient with CAH he was learning along with us. He referred us to a specialest as soon as Scott to travel (we live in a small town). Scott has had several adrenal crises that has put him in the hospital for a day or two. These early crises were because of lack of knowledge. We now have hydrcortisone in shot form. Those shots are like a pick me up after they have been sick. I seem to have the main understanding of CAH under control. I've also had another child with CAH. A little girl. Since I knew it made taking care of her easier. I was on medication (Dexomethosone) while I was pregnet with her. She had very little side effects from the increase in the male hormone. She had some minor surgery to her gential area. (all external) I didn't mean to make a long story but just thought I would let you know I've had some expirence with CAH. The problems I am having know is the growing up problems. Scott is a little short for his age but his doseage is correct and we are hopping that growth spirt with happen. Scott is very laid back. He is not slow metially but physiacally he is. He is overwieght also. I watch his in take of food but it dosen't seem to help. I read a message on the the message board that said that a low carbo diet is good for CAH patient. Is that true or do you know of a better form of dieting? Thanks for you time.Dawn
