corrective surgery

Sorry! I'll get this routine down soon! Our 7 year old daughter was diagnosed at birth with salt wasting cah. She had a slightly enlarged clitoris (which she has grown into without surgery) The ped. urologist did not recommend surgery at her two month old appt. because of the minimal enlargement. However, her vaginal opening at birth was completely closed and still is. She has been to a ped. urologist at 2 months and at 5 years for a check up. Neither dr. recommended opening her vagina now due to the possibility of scar tissue which could make her vagina non-functional later in life. The urologist suggests waiting until right before she starts puberty to do the surgery to open the vagina. That has all sounded just peachy to me until I found this message board and hear so many moms talking about their daughters' surgeries before their first birthdays. I'm beginning to think I may need a second opinion. Our ped endo concurs with the urologist and I sincerely respect his opinion. What are some of the reasons that some girls had the surgery so early...... I appreciate any communication so I can research this topic further. Thanks!
