Susan...am I hearing this correctly? Your endo will not give you solu-cortef? I cannot fathom this. We learned how to emergency injections through a little class with the RN when Amanda was born. They wouldn't let her leave the hospital unless we know how to do it. Our endo also asks us every visit if we need it. I had to give Amanda her first emergency injection when she was 5 months. We also do the oral cortef doubled and if she doesn't perk up, I give her the solu-cortef and then call the endo. He always said it wouldn't hurt her. If we ever had to question whether we should or not give it...then give it anyway. Better to be safe than sorry. We also had an episode with her a few years back that he said...had I not given it..then in a short time we wouldv'e lost her. I agree with Laurie..I would definately question what kind of Dr. my endo was if he didn't want you to have it. The ER's don't have it on hand...and from experience..by the time they would order if from the pharmacy..it could be to late. The ambulance personnel cannot give the injection..you would have to do it. PRESSURE YOUR ENDOCRINOLOGIST. Please. EileenEileen
