Hi Michele... I don't know about the States, but here in Canada, we were told, that they only come in 10 mg. tabs... half is no problem, but I know it is hard to split again. You could try a pill spitter, they are available at the pharmacies, but dollar stores often have them much cheaper. (Around $2) That does make it a little easier. I don't know what the 'activated' means, sorry, but I can tell you that the hydrocortisone, isn't bitter, like the prednisone can be, and Samantha has taken it quite easily, since her surgery, at age 2. (She's nearly 7 now) She actually likes them, and is happy, when her dose is upped for whatever reason, and she gets a full tab! (Go figure) We started her off, with pure, unadulterated bribery... (Have a pill, get a smartie) but after a short time, started making her wait a little, for the smartie, and in a couple of weeks, she forgot about it, all together. She's been great, ever since. Hope this helps, JanineJanine
