Theresa, I just read the article you mentioned. I think it's inaccurate based on other information I've read. Some of those statements might be true to a degree, but I think they go too far in their prognosis. If a female child with CAH is diagnosed very early and treatment begins promptly, there's no reason why she'd have a masculine body, facial hair, etc... I can understand why you'd be nervous and concerned about your child's future and how it might affect her self-image. But the biggest factor in your child's sef-image will be your response to her condition. I read everything I can about CAH, but I don't take everything at face value. I rely more on personal experience and my faith in her doctor. I don't have any worries that CAH is going to play into my daughter's future happiness. She's very happy, very healthy, very out-going, and way too pretty to be considered a boy! Yes, she is a tom-boy (almost all of her friends are boys) but that may have a lot to do with her dad and it's not something that bothers me at all. I'm confident that she will have a bright and happy future. CAH is something you have to take very seriously, but never to the point that you're letting it scare you. Good luck with your daughter... relax, and enjoy!!Laurie
