Dear MOM: So glad I found someone else nearby who goes to the same group. My daughter's endo is Dr. Barry Bercu, an associate of Dr. Root. He seems to know what he is doing and cares about Marissa, but sometimes he seems a bit scattered. Whether he is overworked, preoccupied or simply his personality, I am not sure. Do you know anything about him? Also, he seems more laid back about her treatment- no specific times for blood draws, don't wake her to give her medication (just try to keep it as close to every 8 hrs as possible). After reading all the scary stuff posted on this message board, I questioned him about adrenal crisis and hospitalizations and he said that his group has not experienced any problems with frequent hospitalizations with their CAH patients and that they have never lost a patient to adrenal crisis. Maybe he said this to make me feel better?? Or do the majority of well managed CAH patients do okay? Anyway, any additional input about Dr. Bercu or his group would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
