Re: NaCl

My daughter is 2 and a half now. We took her off the sodium drops at about 2years old or maybe even earlier. I was so scared to take this step because I have such a terrible picky eater. But we have been doing fine. She just loves her salty foods. And loves the salt shaker. Yuck. Anyways, my daughter was on the same schedule as yours for the sodium. I used to medicate like this. From the hospital I got preemie bottles. They were two ouncers, that I would always make a bottle of formula/milk with the sodium drops added. Then make a 6 ounce bottle of formula/ milk without. I would give her the cortef in a nipple before she got any of this. Ok, so it was a pain but, I knew she would for sure get all her meds. without falling asleep not finishing a whole bottle with the sodium. Later on it helped me feel better when I was switching from the sodium to table food because she wasn't getting full on a 2 ounce bottle, killing her appetite. It took me a long time to ween off the bottle and sodium drops because I was so scared she wouldn't get enough sodium with what she was eating. But with enough assurance from her doctor we did it. Now weening from the bottle I am still fighting. I didn't have a problem getting the sodium, but I did have a problem with insurance companies not paying for it. I also must add, keep the sodium refridgerated in the summer. We found little floaty things after a period of time. We decided to refridgerate it and we didn't have a problem after that.
