ah this NACL. The dreaded part of CAH! First our prescription plan never paid for NACL because its not a medication. But every pharmacy we have worked with (4 so far) has made up the salt solution for us in 16oz. bottles. Amanda is now 8 and up until 2 years ago continued with liquid sodium. She had a 3meq. solution and would take 6cc of this three times a day. Every 8 hours. It got very hard as she got older to get this nasty tasting stuff into her so I began trying to supplement with table salt. But my endo continues to say she needs more salt. Last visit to him, thanks to this message board I discussed the Salt tablets. They come in 1 gram. He always told me that would be too much, but I had the pharmacy figure it out, and with three tablets daily she would have the equivalent minus 3meq. of what she did with the liquid, and it would be so much easier to give it too her and know she had it on board, and wouldn't have to worry about the salting her food so much. So pending her latest labs, we will probably start to give it to her. I know most kids get off the liquid NACL by one year. She is just a wicked salt waster I guess. Luck to you... Eileen
