Exactly - that is what I did with my first child with CAH. It was so much easier and I knew how much salt he was getting. With my baby that I breast fed - it was so hard to give the salt supplement. For one thing the NaCl solution was hard to order at the drug store. The doctor didn't prescribe the right amount. I ended up just giving 1/8 tsp of salt five times a day (or every feeding which was every four to 6 hours)... but that was after I realized that his plasma renin and OH17 blood levels were being affected by the low normal salt... and he was lossing weight... I was so worried - I finally called another doctor and had him in the hospital for a week because of the weight lost and elevated plasma renin levels (very scary!!) I wanted to switch him to the bottle but he could not go for it - he only like the breast milk and would not take a bottle from me. He is on a cup now (18 months old and eats table food with salt added). Yes indeed, just put the table salt (1/8 tsp) in each bottle and be done with it or give the right amount of salt if you breast fed!! I agree 100%. Take sure you know how much sodium is in a gram of salt and how many gram is a meq.. kinda of tricky... it is in the old messages somewhere. The good thing now is that my baby is over one year - it is a big issue for the baby less than one year. preston@kreative.netRoberta
