bone age xrays

My son is 19 mo. old and has not had a bone xray. The dr.s in this area (I have already switched him once) seem to be reluctant to do them until the child is three. The reasoning is something like "wrist xrays are not accurate on children under three and the radiation exposure is too great when doing a full body scan". From the posts and articles I have read this doesn't seem accurate. We will meet with his ped. endo in a few weeks and I need to find information to support my position that he MUST have an xray done this year (for his 2nd b-day). I know I have read articles that say kids should get them every year, starting at age one. Can anyone direct me to info on this. I have been searching articles and just can't seem to find the info again. Thanks in advance.
