our precious angels are definitely "children first", but as the grandmother of a 6 year old cah boy, his parents, as well as our entire family, are on our p's and q's when it comes to his health, i.e, Jess getting his meds on time, etc. He plays every sport, has many playmates and doesn't think twice about taking his meds twice daily. Taking his meds are a part of his daily routine, and he knows no other way. he is very healthy, extremely intellegent and an all-around little boy. we'll all cross the bridge when the timing is right and discuss cah with him when he can truly understand everything about it, but in the meantime, he has no ideas that he has it. Taking meds to him is like the rest of the family taking our vitamins. A few kids on his basketball team picked up his arm during one of his recent games and we saw them looking at his medical alert bracelet and talking with him, but we never questioned him about what they asked him, etc. He has never minded wearing his bracelet.....we've made it clear to him he's so special he gets to wear it. He'll know all the details soon enough. We can't cripple our children just because they have cah. we have to protect them and use our god given motherly instinct and they'll be fine.
