Amanda's Cystoscopy today
2/11/00 10:04 PM
Hello all..Amanda had her procedure today. A VCUG, cystoscopy, and a scope of her vagina. Under anesthesia. Well..I knew something was wrong with her having frequent bladder infections and constant bedwetting. Well..the urologist said that he saw three openings externally on his initial consult a few weeks back. Come to find out that the higher one..is just an indent..between that and the second opening is like a bridge of tissue that was sewn shut so that you could stick an instrument up behind it...???...and then her urethra opens directly into her vagina, causing the urine to go up into her vagina, and back up into her bladder also. He also saw some cystitis in her bladder. He said there is a good chance that when she had her initial surgery done by another urologist that the urethra was close to her vaginal opening and through the years and the growth that it got pushed up into her vagina. He was going to go back and look over her operative reports from the initial surgery. But for now he put her on Septra until we figure out what to do. She will now need a surgery to close the urethral opening in her vagina and construct another opening where it should be. I am enraged at the previous urologist. I was to her office 2 years ago, stating that Amanda had been dry for a few years and then suddenly started wetting the bed. She just did an ultrasound, which would show none of this and told us to not give her any liquids after dinner, and wake her around midnight to pee, and she would eventually grow out of it. I'll keep you posted..Thanks for listening. Eileen
