Nicole (suppression) and Cortef doses

My 7 year old is on 6 mg 3x per day, plus 0.1 mg florinef a.m. and a half florinef afternoon. She is a severe salt-waster with frequent salt cravings. Until age 5 she was WAY below 5th % in growth with a delayed bone age. Today she has an advanced bone age of 8 1/2 to 9 1/2 and is at about 10% for height. Nicole, our daughter has trouble staying suppressed. There are lots of reasons for this: tumors (v unlikely!), other conditions such as thyroid, and so forth. Your peds endo can eliminate these as possibilities. We've gone through a battery of tests and found nothing--frustrating as that is, I consider it good news. For now, we've concluded that some kids just need more cortisol--it may be that they don't metabolize it as efficiently as others do. The point is, work with your peds endo to figure out what's happening. Good luck, laurie
