Jenni, I have non-saltwasting CAH and have been on Dex for 21 years. Thirteen years ago I got pregnant with my daughter and since I have to take Dex to be healthy I continued to take it during my pregnancy. In fact, I nursed my daughter and was on Dex for the next 14 months too. My daughter has not been tested (besides a X-ray for bone growth at age 10, which was normal) and hasn't had any symptoms of CAH. My daughter has had excellent health and aside from being chubby as an infant (maybe it had to do with the steroids? Who knows?) She now is 5'5" (I'm only 5'2") and is 119 lbs. She is normal in every way. So, as far as I'm concerned, I don't believe that it hurts babies if they don't have CAH. The only problem we had with her as a baby was she was colicky for the first 3 months, but I don't know that it had anything to do with steroids. Take the steroids. You won't regret it!
