Hi Jenni, I have a 20 month old son with salt-wasting CAH (who is doing incredibly well) and have recently found out that I am pregnant again. I started taking the dexamethasone about 10 days ago, so I'm not really an expert at this point. A few things I can share - my prescription was for .5 mg, 3x/day. However, the endocronologist who is monitoring my pregnancy reduced one of the doses (the afternoon one)to .25 mg as I have been experiencing increased energy that has been affecting my sleep a bit. Quite honestly, so far that is the only side-effect - feeling very energetic, sometimes to the point of being a bit hyper. In a way that's not so bad, and I am managing to sleep adequately (although I do have more trouble falling asleep if I wake up during the night). The only other thing I notice is that my appetite has increased. I tend to eat sensibily, but anticipate that my weight gain during the first trimester will probably be greater than it was last time. I will be having a CVS in about a month and am hoping that the news will be good. However, I have no qualms about taking the dex. - I've done some research on it and think that the advantages of taking it until the results of the CVS determine the status of the baby are well worth it if it reduces or eliminates the virilization of an affected girl. Hope this info. helps. AndreaAndrea
