I took dexamethasone to conceive my now 12 year old daughter and prednisone throughout my pregnancy. In hindsight, My biggest concern with taking the medication through pregnancy was that I believe it surpressed her immune system. She was delivered at a major Boston Hospital and left the hospital with double ear infections and a staph infection. At five months she had HIB meningitis and almost died. At that time they were only immunizing against HIB at 18 months. You name the illness and she had it. The last two years have been very healthy (knock on wood) and she is the light of our lives.
