Rie, We also have a son with salt-wasting CAH (20 months). His health and growth have been excellent. After many consultations with specialists and our own research, we decided that we wanted more children and that we would opt for the dex. for subsequent pregnancies. I am now 7 weeks pregnant and started the dex. 3 weeks ago. So far I haven't had it bad - my appetite is definitely up and I have gained 4 or 5 pounds, but I am willing to accept some extra weight gain in order to protect an affected girl. The only other side effect is that I feel very energetic (which I actually see as a plus right now). In spite of the energy,I am not having any sleep problems. I plan to have a CVS in a month to determine the gender and whether the baby has it or not. I am apprehensive about the CVS (I actually posted a message about it), but don't see taking the dex. unnecessarily for the entire pregnancy as a good option for me or the baby. Everyone has to make their own decisions, but as far as I am concerned I would never have any more children if I wasn't willing to submit to the dex. therapy during pregnacy. To subject an affected girl to high levels of male hormones in utero and risk having serious malformation of the genitals is unacceptable to me. I would have rather had my tubes tied. Therefore, I think it's important that you have a clear idea of what you would do and the consequences before making any decisions. I'd be glad to provide you with updates about the dex., pregnancy, CVS if that would be helpful. In the meantime, good luck. AndreaAndrea
