Personally, My feelings are a little different about the Dex and pregnancy. I have CAH, so not taking Dex during pregnancy wasn't an option. My daughter is 12 now and has shown no signs of CAH. For those of you who think your child doesn't have any side-effects from the steroid use after they're diagnosed, just start reading the late-onset board and you'll see that we ALL with CAH have side effects, it's just that some of the symptoms were unexplained by our endos (no studies have been done). In the years to come I believe we will see many links to unexplained symptoms. On the LOCAH board, we all have TMJ, lots have fibromyalgia, anxiety, depression, and other assorted things. I don't understand why a mother would not agree to take the Dex which could make life easier for her child. So, you have some discomfort! I'm sorry, but living with this disease for a lifetime and taking steroids has not been a picnic, and it lasts a lot longer than a few months. I feel if you're willing to risk bringing into the world a child who will at some point wish to GOD that they didn't have CAH,(they may not say it until adulthood though) then you should at least try to make things a little easier with the Dex. This is really a soapbox for me, sorry, but unless you have the disease, it's hard to actually FEEL what it's like living with in your own body. Susan A.
