Re: Questions for Lisa

Debbie, You may think that I am foolish but I really can't answer your questions very well. I don't know what our daughter's sodium levels are because her endo doesn't tell us the numbers. She calls herself to let us know if the blood work came back okay and if we need to increase the dosage. I do know that while she was in the hospital for 2 weeks after being born that they did have to adjust things quite a bit until they found the right amount of Sodium and Florinef to give our daughter. She has been on 10 cc of Sodium and 2 tablets of Florinef a day since we brought her home (not to mention the Cortef). I guess I never heard that the sodium levels had anything to do with the genitalia. The way I understood it was that it has more to do with the adrenals making too much testosterone. That is why the endo said she didn't understand why Kara didn't have this problem, her levels were high. As far as where the genetic testing was done, it wasn't Dr. New. It was a lab called CompGene in Wisconsin and the method of analysis was Direct Mutation. We had the blood drawn at the endo's office and they sent it to this lab. Let me know what you find out. The only thing that I know for sure is that I don't know enough. The more input I have, the more questions I know to ask the endo. I'll put in my e-mail address if you are interested in getting in touch.
