Hi Theresa, My daughter is 8 years old with CAH non salt wasting. As I said in my earlier post, we were told by doctors that according to the amnio results, my daughter was unaffected. I did not take dex as I was too far along at the time (14 weeks). We had just learned about my son so we knew very little as did the doctors (the pediatrician had never heard of CAH!). Of course when we thought she would not have CAH, we stopped worrying. My daughter has a slight fusion of the vaginal opening which will be corrected before puberty. In fact, at her next endo visit she will also be seeing a pediatric gynecologist. She has had a cystoscopy which was done at age 4 to be sure that all her internal female organs were where they should be. Happily, all was well. We were very lucky. The extent of her virilization was minimal. The surgery should be somewhat like an episiotomy. I am thankful. As far as their illness/stress tolerance, my son nearly always ends up in the ER about a bout with flu. He just never seems to be able to come back on his own (can't keep anything down, starts to hallucinate, dehydrates, etc.) even with the injectible stress doses. My daughter seems to be able to come back on her own with stress doses but it seems to take longer than the "normal" child. With regard to a stressful situation, I have never noticed that either one of my children becomes belligerent or out of control as some people here on the board have mentioned. I have never felt the need to give them any extra doses due to emotional stress. I am rather long winded, I know. I try to fit so much into so little. Sorry. Hope it helped!
Liz
