It could be a couple of things-Laura makes a good point: toilet paper is definitely high on the list (dye/perfume free are generally safer for girls). It could be exzema--I once had an itch for 7 years that no gyn could diagnose. I finally saw a dermatologist for something else, mentioned my 'itch' on a whim and he recognized it on the spot--cleared it up in 5 minutes with a cream. It could be a sign of sexual abuse It could be her panties or your laundry detergent It could be that she's outgrown her clothes, esp jeans It could be a sign of (very healthy) first sexual awareness that occurs in most kids (not just CAH) at that age. If you're certain that it's not a yeast infection, a good topical relief is hydrocortisone. Good luck! laurie
