You can expect to feel uneasy about going away with your husband on a week-long cruise. Will the caregiver know when to tripple cortef, give injections, recognize adrenal crisis? You will feel uneasy about going out for dinner and a movie. Will the 16 year-old recognize a sudden fever and know what to do? You had better be home by 10 PM because you don't trust a 16 year old to dispense COrtef. You will become a germaphobe because evrytime your child gets a cold she throws-up and you have to give an injection. A 24 hour stomach virus almost certainly ends-up being a hospital trip. By the way, your child is much more succeptable to viruses. (at least ours is) You will suffer everytime your child has a blood draw because you have to be there when some technician, who your HMO says you have to go to, pokes your child 5 times to get blood because they only work with adults. You will always be reminded of the condition because you can't escape 6 am, 2 pm and 10 pm. SOmeone always has to be awake at 6 am and 10 pm. You and your spouse will probably take turns. When your child goes to school or daycare, will the school dispense drugs properly and on-time? Will you be there in the emergency room when your child is taken in for a broken bone? SOmeone must tell the ER Docs to set-up IV with Cortef before DOING ANYTHING. Is your child getting enough Cortef? Too much?? Is bone age advanced? WIll growth be normal?Brian
