Right to access med. info and timing of med

Well here is another post from me. I feel like I use this board too much, but you are all so helpful I can't help but keep asking. I really appreciate all I learn from you. Two questions. 1) Does anyone know what rights a parent has to access a child's medical records. The story behind this question . . . due to insurance requirements, my son now has a ped. in one clinic system, his blood drawn at a childrens hospital, and his ped endo at a different hosp. This has caused much confusion in getting his lab results to his ped endo. I have tried a million different ways to ensure the results are at the dr.s in time for his appt. Nothing is working. Again today we arrived for his appt with no lab results to look at. After 1 1/2 hour delay we discovered the hospital didn't send the blood out so the test was not completed! UGH!! But that is a whole other story. Anyway, what I would like to do is have the results sent to me and I would then be able to make sure we had them at my son's appt. So far the hosp. has balked and said they can't release them except to my son's dr. I have a hard time believing this because I know I have the right to go in and have his chart copied. Anyone know anything about this. Second question - We finally got my son switched to the hydrocort. tablets (instead of Cortef). He'll be taking 10 mgs total throughout the day. 5 mgs in one dose and 2.5 mgs in the other two. I have heard rationale for taking the large dose in the am and rationale for taking it in the pm (depending on how you view the early morning hormone surge). Just wondering what the majority of you all do? am big dose or pm big dose? Thanks in advance.
