Yes, Jack's dose went down from 11 mg to 10 mg. His dr. and I both thought he was a little over dosed so moving to 5 mg pills made it a good time to lower the dose to 10mgs. We thought he might be overdosed because (1) his blood tests showed 17 OHP undetectable (2) his height is now 1/2inch less that it should be to stay on the growth chart at 50%, (3) he is eating tons and gaining a lot of weight and (4) he is not sleeping as much and has so much energy. It is hard to say if any of these are related to overdosing or if it is just him being a toddler. But the big one that makes me think he was on too much is that he seems to grow best when he is on about 18mg/m2 of hydrocortisone and he was up to 21mg/m2. RE: eating less. There are so many reasons why a child will eat less. Most experts say around 1 year children start to eat less because they don't need all the calories they needed as an infant. Also, as the child starts to walk and crawl they become more interested in the world and food is less exciting. But, I have heard that if CAH kids are underdosed they lose their energy and their appetite. I do think that Jack eats more when he is overdosed, but I don't know if he would eat less if he was underdosed. RE: dosing more during day than at night. It seems like there are a lot of different opinions about the timing of doses. Some doctors say a big dose at night. Some say a big dose in the morning. Several people have posted that they think their child's sleep is disturbed if they get a big dose at night. I don't know. Jack will now be getting his big dose (5mg) in the morning. I will let you know if it affects his sleep differently. Hope that helps. Good luck - Chris
