Boy, I wish I could tell you "don't go there" (about possibly thinking you made a mistake...years later). We're all going to second-guess ourselves about something. Forever. We decided NOT to do a clitoral reduction on our daughter (she was not an ambiguous genitalia case....she suddenly presented with an enlarged clitoris at almost 4 years). We were blessed with ending up with a wonderful endo who steered us to a doctor at Johns Hopkins I mentioned up in my earlier post. He's a child psychiatrist who has worked with many CAH children. We met with and decided to hold off on surgery. However....we have that luxury now. You didn't. My God....we only know what we know now because of the internet and this message board. This disorder is just now getting the recognition it deserves because information is so much more accessible now. And because of a board like this one. You didn't have that years ago when you had to make a decision virtually all on your own. Besides...who knows....our daughter might be angry at us down the road for NOT doing the surgery when she was little. (Aren't teenagers supposed to hate us for something, anyway? wink, wink) Please don't beat yourself up too much.....we do the best we can with the information we have. Your daughter (and mine) may not realize that until they have kids of their own someday....and feel firsthand the heartache and sorrow of making such difficult decisions. "It all works out in the end"....says my mother-in-law! God bless you.
