There have been many messages on this board about the liquid Cortef formulation. I think the postings started in the spring of 1999 (there was a reformulation in April 99). The very short version - a white sediment forms in the Cortef bottles and is very difficult, if not impossible, to resuspend. Many parents have found it hard for their children to be controlled on the liquid and many people believe it is defective. For the whole story, I would read through the old postings.
