Update on the newborn screening for Virginia. The Senate Bill did pass to do a study for CAH for newborns in Virginia. Senate Bill 699 - Senator Patsy Ticer(D-Alexandria) introduced it and made sure it was a bill and not a resolution). This is a great step to getting newborn screening in Virginia. A reporter for the Washington Post wants to do an article about CAH. She is researching CAH, talk to doctors, and do some interviews. If anyone wants to give some input to the reporter - her name is June Joaneff (spell??) at 703 549-7933. She is a free lance writer. I am going to tell her how my son, Stephen, almost died because Virginia does not have newborn testing for CAH and none of the doctors knew what was wrong with him.
