You speak for me, as well. As I read the letter, I had the feeling I was listening to someone who is very nice, but has convinced herself of things that are simply not true. My sister is a psychologist, and probably the worst personality type to be one--she sees psychological problems in everyone. She once diagnosed her son as having been molested because when they returned home after a vacation at the beach, he suddenly became subdued. No amount of arguing could convince her that every kid feels a little down once vacation was over. No, she was certain there was someone in the neighborhood who had assaulted him. Today, he is totally messed up, because she kept telling him that he was messed up. Mind you, throughout this period of their lives, she was counseling children who had actually been molested in the most heinous manner. She was just transferring her emotions from work to home--creating a situation that didn't otherwise exist. The reality is, our daughters are beautiful gifts from God. If we treat them so, they will believe it. laurie
