Thanks for all your postings Eileen. Your thorough research is a help to us all in understanding. I have done a bit of research as well to help me understand the different causes of ambiguous genitalia (I'll confess more than a bit) and I can't help but wonder if any of their members that particularly had AIS may feel the most betrayed by surgery (AIS -androgen insensitivity syndrome - male fetus that does not become fully masculinized and looks more female than male) In AIS cases, they are male XY but were reassigned as females and given surgery ..... In my opinion it is quite a different story from what our CAH daughters go through. Amazing what new things we learn everyday. Hope all goes well with your daughter. Here is something lighthearted for you. My daughter was 3 1/2 when she was scheduled for her surgery. We met the surgeon for an appointment beforehand and she knew that the surgery would help her be a bit more like mommy and she was fine with that(without going into details). My daughter was given the chance to ask a few questions. All she really wanted to know from him was if he could sing any songs. Since he knew 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' she was absolutely happy. Take care both of you are in my prayers.Peg
