They both said that one school of thought was that it was better for her to understand and participate in her surgery. So we waited. She had her surgery at age nine. Everything went wonderfully. He did a clitoral reduction, "unfused" her labia, and exteriorized her vaginal opening. She did fine with it. I think it was a good decision.
