Re: Re: Surgery is it Necessary Now!

Like everyone else said, it will be up to you. I had my daughter's surgery done at 6mo. old. You will find that some kids were able to go without surgery because their genitals WERE NOT that badly effected. Some had to because they WERE badly effected. My daughter has no memory of it. And she won't have to worry about taking showers in front of other school mates when it comes time. Another thought from the urologist was that pschologically it was better to correct her genitals now, then later on having to say we have to "GIVE" you a vagina. Which if surgery is needed to open the vagina, that would be just before puberty, a time no one is really comfortable with their body. THIS WAS MY EXPERIENCE, I AM NOT GIVING MY OPINION WHETHER OR NOT YOU SHOULD MAKE YOUR DAUGHTER GET THE SURGERY NOW OR LATER. I do not know your child to make that opinion. Every child is different, every mother is different, and every urologist is different. You will make the right decison. Your her mom. Good luck, pray on it.
