http://www.cc.nih.gov/ccc/patient_education/pepubs/mngadrins.pdf Give the injection if the fever did not come down and/or the fever is really high and go to the hospital - but give the injection of solu-cortef FIRST. Because your child can have an adrenal crisis and die - if the fever is high and PHYSICAL stress is too much and there is not enough cortisol. Do not wait and do not worry about over dosing during a high fever. Give the solu-cortef every 6 hours - and tylenol - every four hours (even if the child is asleep). Give the meds - even if the child is asleep and it is the middle of night!! EVERY four hours for tylenol and and every 6 hours for cortisol - and give at the beginning of the fever and not on the cortisol schedule or 7am; 3pm and 11pm... Say the high fever is at 10 am... GIVE the cortisol immediately. Do not wait until 3pm. Give immediately during a illness!!! preston@kreative.net
