From what I've read and what I've been told after my daughter broke her arm and then six months later her leg, cortisone can deplete calcium from the body especially if the dose is too high. After my daughter had the broken bone problem, we realized her dose was a bit too high. When looking back, photos reveal cheeks that are way too plump and rosy ... actually her whole body plumped up especially in the chest .... a definite indication that the meds were too high... (WendyLee is you read this - that is similar to Cushing's disease) In the long run we were lucky the fractures were minor and the meds reduced appropriately. My daughter could easily consume a litre of milk (about US quart) in one sitting if I let her. We switched to 1% milk. I've noticed now that some orange juice has calcium in it. That's a great because it helps the body absorb the calcium more efficiently.Peg
