Re: salt craving

The ped endo that I use never did prescribe salt tablets. The protrocol that she uses is... salt the formula or give salt water to an infant born with CAH and then when the baby starts eating solid foods - salt the food. She thinks that table foods already have enough salt (and to sprinkle alittle extra salt on the foods). This always worried me since toddlers and children do not always finish their food. My sons are not good eaters... but again the ped endo doctor thinks that they get enough salt in their food. As a baby I would put in 1/8 tsp of salt per bottle and he would drink about 5 bottle... so that 5/8 tsp of salt and then salted baby foods at 4 months or so. As he grew older that ped endo also reduced the florinef which retained the salt. So as the child grows older... I guess the salt is not as much as an issue as for an infant. But still a concern... but the doctor insists that table foods have enough salt. My house is stocked with salty foods!! preston@kreative.net
