i wouldn't let the fact that your daughter has CAH ever get in the way of her playing sports. and the older she gets, the less of a problem CAH will become. as long as she has a medic alert braclet w/ her (& let her coach know about the bracelet) and her medicine, there shouldn't be a problem. [is there any reason why you said she will be unable to cope physically in the long-term? injuries come and go whether one has CAH or not.] i'm 19 and in college now, and have played sports for as long as i can remember. i realize now that my parents went well out of their way, dragging me from state to state for different softball tournaments, but i can honestly say that i can't think of any one single thing that has given more self confidence than my years of playing softball. the most serious injury i ever suffered was a torn ACL, which had nothing to do w/ CAH. i'd double my dosage if i was ever under too much stress, but that was rarely necessary. all i can say, though, is never doubt your daughter's ability and encourage her until the day she decides to steps off the field. and who knows, maybe she'll even hold the olympic gold one day!melissa
