Something else to think about...

Sometimes the medications can cover-up a fever. My daughter also has a cold right now. Even though she basically feels alright (as well as one can feel without being able to breath properly!) I started double-dosing her last night because she just doesn't "look" good. I don't know about the rest of you, but I can tell by my daughter's eyes when her body is sick. She has had a low fever a few times in the past three days, but it's not constant. I usually judge by how she looks and feels. If she seems o.k. with an illness, I keep her on regular dose. If she starts to "look bad" or starts a low fever, I double her dose. If the fever jumps any higher, I triple. Vomiting results in a shot - which we've done twice in the past two months. (It must be a bad season because my daughter almost never gets sick and this is the first time in years that I've had to use the solu-cortef.) For diarrhea I judge by how she's looking and acting too, and try to get away with double/triple before a shot... that usually works for us.
