My daughter is almost 3yrs. She has had three infections since birth. She had reconstructive surgery to reduce her clitoris, open her vagina, and some urethra (sp?) redirecting. Her urologist had a problem when it was time to remove her cathedar. It held onto something. He is afraid he sutured a stitch onto the cathedar. She was given a cystoscope after she got her first infection. He found there was a small skin like flap in her urethra. He put her on a low dose antibiotic for one year to give her time to grow hoping that flap would be given more room. That was just a thought to what was wrong. He will probably scope to see if that flap is narrowing the passage of urine. Or if there is something else going on. What I don't know. The last two infections have ironically come since we have been potty training. It is what they might find is what I am worried about because I don't want to see her endure another surgery to fix it. But if it takes away all these infections it will be worth it. To answer your questions, the scoping lets them see what is really going on it there. That is ironic you get them with your period. Perhaps you may have a vaginal infection that may me infecting your urinary tract. You never know with these infections. Please don't suffer with these. I too myself had a series of bladder infections before the birth of my daughter. They never figured out why. Knock on wood I have not had any.I wish you the best of luck. I will let you know what they decide and ask him about you too.Laura
